Two-month-old baby Oliver sleeping in a woven basket wearing a knit striped hat during a full newborn session at a Downtown Everett photography studio.

Sweet Oliver visited my Downtown Everett Studio for a full newborn session at 2 months old, and this session was filled with so much personality, love, and meaningful family touches. While many newborn sessions happen within the first couple of weeks, it is never too late to capture these special early memories — and Oliver’s session was the perfect reminder of that.

Mom and Dad wanted to focus on creating beautiful first family portraits together while also incorporating details that reflected their family’s style and story. One of my favorite things about lifestyle newborn photography is when families bring personal elements that make their session truly unique. For Oliver’s session, Hawaiian shirts became the perfect fun and colorful choice that added warmth and personality to their images while keeping the session relaxed and authentic.

They also brought along a very special family keepsake — a beloved beaver plush that held sentimental meaning for their family. Incorporating meaningful heirlooms and treasured items into newborn sessions always helps tell a deeper story, and it made Oliver’s portraits even more personal and memorable.

Oliver was absolutely adorable throughout his session. At 2 months old, babies are often more alert and expressive, which gives us the opportunity to capture sweet eye contact, tiny smiles, and more interaction with parents. He settled beautifully into the cozy setups and looked especially sweet curled up in the woven basket, wearing his handmade knit hat.

The warm wood tones and soft neutral textures in the studio paired perfectly with the earthy colors from the session styling, creating timeless images that Mom and Dad will treasure for years to come.

It was such an honor to document these first family memories for Oliver and his parents. Every newborn session tells a different story, and I love helping families create portraits that feel personal, meaningful, and true to them.

If you are considering newborn portraits but feel like you may have missed the “ideal” newborn window, don’t worry. Babies at every stage bring something unique to their session, and it is always the perfect time to preserve these fleeting moments.
