Ahoy, birthday boy! Kolten’s 1st birthday cake smash was one to remember—filled with big smiles, soft sand tones, and a charming nautical theme that had us all swooning. Anchors, seashells, and sailboats came together to create the perfect setup for this milestone moment.

We styled the studio with a fun coastal backdrop, complete with a classic navy-and-white sailboat, driftwood accents, and textures inspired by the beach. The soft neutral tones were a lovely contrast to Kolten’s adorable blue romper, and of course, the giant white “ONE” letters made sure we celebrated this milestone in a big way!

Kolten was an absolute joy to photograph. His bright eyes and curious expressions lit up the studio, and he was all smiles as he explored the beachy setup around him. From investigating seashells to grabbing hold of the mini ship’s wheel, he brought this scene to life with his sweet personality.

While the cake didn’t make its appearance just yet in this sneak peek, Kolten had plenty of fun warming up in this pre-smash portrait portion of the session. And when it was finally time for the cake, let’s just say it was a delightfully messy success!
