Family of three with a five-year-old child walking together through Bellevue Botanical Garden in late summer surrounded by lush greenery

There’s something incredibly special about getting to photograph families more than once, and the Skattum family is one I’ve truly loved working with over the years. Watching their story unfold and seeing how much their little one has grown is such a joy every single time.

This session took place at the beautiful Bellevue Botanical Garden in late August, when everything was still lush and full of life, but with just a hint that summer was beginning to wind down. The warm light, vibrant greenery, and peaceful pathways made the perfect backdrop for a relaxed and playful evening together.

Their now five-year-old brought so much personality and energy to the session. From curious exploring to sweet moments with mom and dad, it was the perfect mix of candid connection and genuine smiles. These are the moments that make sessions like this so meaningful—nothing overly posed, just real life unfolding most beautifully.

The Skattums always bring such an easygoing, joyful presence, which makes documenting their family feel effortless. It’s sessions like these that remind me why I love what I do—capturing not just how a family looks, but how it feels to be together in this season.

I’m so grateful to continue being part of their story and can’t wait to see what the next session brings.
