Family of five smiling together outdoors in their front yard during autumn with golden November light and evergreen trees in the background.

Some sessions feel less like work and more like catching up with old friends—and that’s exactly what it’s like every time I photograph the Davisson family. For over five years now, I’ve had the privilege of documenting their story, watching the kids grow taller, personalities shine brighter, and connections deepen most genuinely.

This year’s session felt especially magical. Instead of heading to a new location, they chose something more personal—their own front yard. And honestly, it couldn’t have been more perfect. November arrived in full force, enveloping their home in warm, golden light and a blanket of fall color that made everything feel cozy, nostalgic, and real.

There’s something so meaningful about photographing a family in a space that already holds so many memories. The kids were relaxed, playful, and completely themselves. The laughter came easily, the smiles were natural, and those little in-between moments—the ones that often become favorites—happened effortlessly.

What I love most about photographing the Davissons year after year is seeing how their dynamic evolves while the heart of their family stays the same. There’s a comfort, a rhythm, and a genuine joy they share that makes my job incredibly easy.

Sessions like this are a reminder that you don’t need an elaborate location to create beautiful images. Sometimes the most meaningful place is right at home, especially when it’s surrounded by the quiet magic of fall.

Already looking forward to next year.
